What do you think of competition? Piano competition? – Absolutely against

Fool hearted and I will tell you why. The most important, you choose people not by excellence but by elimination, and that’s not right, You have to choose somebody by excellence and not by elimination.

Lot’s of politicas. So I’m against it. nd what does the winner gets? A few thousand dollars and maybe engages with the Orchestra and then he is forgotten, that’s all. He doesn’t make a career from that.

He is the most furstrated person in the world. That’s why I’m against it you know, I think I’m right.

Ah, yes . You see when after Reuchmenioff died, a good freind of mine, he was much older than me play so much music, tremenduous amount afte he diced so we decide in his name to create a competitino, Rachminoff competition. Like, how? What was the name? A memorial you know, so I was one of teh judges in Carnegie Halll. and I named the winner after preliminaries and things and lots of work was done. So there was playing Mr… there were 7 or 8 judgesand I was voting for first place for Gary Graffman, he was youngeter at that time . And there was one more talented, you know buyt not very much of individual that’s whatc ounts in music, teh personality, teh individuality, so I was voting for Graffman.
